King Playground Fun Day 2009. Our society has entered an age where simplistic outdoor entertainment many times plays second fiddle to gaming systems and computers for a generation of electronic-savvy, sedentary whiz- kids. It is important that the community continues to support this free, annual event that gets kids outside, active and enjoying a simpler side of life. Playground Fun Day most often is hosted by the playground's board of directors, which is a non- profit entity funded by tax-exempt contributions and money received from an annual fund drive. Eveery three years, the festival falls under the auspices of Old Home Week, also a non-profit, all- volunteer endeavor. Generations of families in the area enjoy Playground Fun Day.
